Building Transition Updates
In 2013, the congregation entered into discussion about the possible sale of the Ranchlands facility through an intentional congregational renewal process. In 2016, the Ranchlands building was sold to the Muslim Association of Canada, and the Calgary congregation relocated to Lion's Village at 2528 Bowness Rd. NW as a temporary location.
A Facility Planning Team has been established to help facilitate this transition, and the congregation has entered into an acquisition process as it seeks to relocate to a new space.
This purpose of this page is twofold:
We are excited to share the following photos from the project site taken on April 3, 2021. As you can see, our millwork has been installed, along with our cabinets in the kitchen! Incredible to see it all begin to take shape.
It's incredible to see the walls closed in in our new space. Thanks to Pastor Doug Hayden for providing these progress photos. (Photos taken on Saturday, March 20, 2021.)
Photos provided to us today, March 12, showing off some amazing construction progress in our new space. Check out that curved wall and the entryway area!
That round frame on the east wall is going to be the future home of the stain glass that once graced our wall in the Ranchlands facility.
Progress photos taken on March 6, 2021. Electrical wiring is being installed, ceiling work continues, and the curved wall is beginning to take shape.

Things are literally taking shape before our eyes! Stay tuned for more progress photos as things move forward.
The Facility Team is excited to report that work is underway at the congregation’s new site located at 422 11 Ave SE #112. Walls are going up and the current schedule provided to us by our professional groups shows a tentative target date for inspections and hand-over in mid-May 2021.
Parker Johnson will drop in at the work site (complying with all COVID-19 guidelines) from time-to-time to photography progress and share them with the congregation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and worksite safety requirements, we encourage you to follow along virtually with the progress of our new location. If you would like to physically visit the worksite to see the construction progress for yourself, please contact Doug Hayden so that arrangements can be made with the work crew.
This is an exciting time for our congregation, and we look forward to reporting on the status of our new home as frequently as we can
Today, Nov. 14, 2020, marks a major milestone in the Calgary Congregation's transition out of its Ranchland's location (NW Calgary) to the new facility in the core with demolition work beginning.
Parker Johnson has provided a brief video update below and has included several interior photos of the demolition progress today.

This is a come-and-go event. Come when you are able.
Here are the details for this weekend’s site visit:

WHEN: Saturday, August 29 between 10 a.m. – Noon
In order to remain in compliance with provincial, municipal, and World Church guidelines, we will be enforcing the following measures:
In order to accommodate a variety of schedules, this is the first of what will be two site visits. Another group site visit will be scheduled in the near future. If you are out of town and will not be able to attend any site visit in the near future or if you are not able to/comfortable with attending an in-person gathering like this, please contact Parker Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org and he can provide you with a virtual walk-through video of the space being considered.
As is the Facility Team’s mandate, we bring this site to the congregation for their input. No agreements will be made without congregational approval at a formal business meeting.
This is an exciting time in the life of our congregation as we enter into a new phase in our building transition. Since 2017, Calgary’s Facility Team has worked alongside the congregation to locate an ideal space that best meets the needs of the congregation. Needs analyses were conducted, presentations were given, and casual check-ins with the congregation throughout the process provided valuable feedback to ensure the mandate was clear, reasonable, and focused. Work has continued despite the COVID-19 pandemic which has put us in a better position with negotiations.
Should you have any questions, please contact Parker Johnson at email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Pastor, Calgary Community of Christ
On October 20, 2018, the Facility Planning Team met with the congregation to discuss its findings from the property search and feasibility study. The Team’s mandate throughout this process was to research and explore options that met the criteria of the congregation’s Needs Assessment Survey. The Facility Planning Team’s presentation was on-time and under budget.
Thanks to the clear mandate provided by the congregation, the Facility Planning Team was able to present a detailed analysis – including a financial forecast – ensuring congregants had the best information in front of them ahead of any decision-making. Ultimately, the congregation acknowledged that the options before them were financially unsustainable and provided positive feedback to the Facility Planning Team concerning next steps.
This leads us to today. As we close the previous chapter in our facility transition process, we are blessed with a great deal of useful information, research, and budgeting that will be invaluable to us in our next phase.
We would like to now pause to provide you with opportunities to brainstorm other possible ideas and solutions. We will be offering three face-to-face one-hour brainstorming sessions at our Lions Village location on the following dates and times:
Coffee and donuts will be provided!
Alternatively, if you would like to provide written input, you may do so by emailing Parker Johnson, Facility Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For our out-of-town members and friends, we will be offering an online brainstorming session via Zoom. We will be connecting with these individuals soon to set a convenient date and time.
We now stand on the knowledge from the findings of the 2018 Feasibility Study Report, and our future looks bright. We look forward to hearing your creative feedback.
