We will enjoy a non-traditional service this Sunday as Marilyn Smith introduces us to the concept of dinner church. This is a larger movement being embraced by other faith traditions that involves the breaking of bread, community building, worship components, and meaningful conversation. It is a truly contextual experience. Please note that this is a shared potluck meal. There is no menu set for this gathering, so please bring whatever dish you feel is most appropriate for the occasion. The meal will take place at our usual meeting place at Lions Village and will begin at 11 a.m. Please join us as we explore new expressions of Christ's Mission, and don't forget to bring along your favourite dish! Due to a move by the UPS Store that Steve has been using to receive church mail, a change in address is necessary for at least the next couple of months. Join us for a special service this Sunday, January 20th as we confirm June Nemisz as a member of Community of Christ. We are so grateful June has decided to take this step. From the moment she walked in the door, she has been like family to us.
Cake will be served immediately following the service. A little information on confirmation can be found below: In the sacrament of confirmation, elders place their hands on the head of the new disciple, and one elder offers a special prayer. The prayer of confirmation seeks God’s blessing to help new members grow in their covenant and generously share their giftedness in support of the church’s mission. The commitment made through baptism and confirmation is active “discipleship expressed through covenant with God and others in sacred community” (Doctrine and Covenants 164:2d). Confirmation helps weave people into the fabric of community—both congregation and worldwide church—so they can grow in discipleship.
