On Sunday May 5, 2019, Jack and Beverly Cargill invite everyone to join them at the Ribstone Community of Christ, as they celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
The celebration lunch will begin following the Worship Service at 12:30 p.m. It is a great time of year for a drive in the country! For anyone wishing to send anniversary wishes, please contact us at cofchristyyc@outlook.com for the address. Several people attended World Conference as delegates from the Calgary Congregation. Please join us for the 10:00 a.m. Coffee & Conversation hour as well as the 11:00 a.m. worship experience. We hope to see you there! Community of Christ celebrated the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the Temple in Independence, Missouri, on April 6, 2019. In spring 1993 the Temple was dedicated with Doctrine and Covenants 156:4-5 in mind, "The temple shall be dedicated to the pursuit of peace. It shall be for reconciliation and for healing of the spirit." The church was reminded of this in Doctrine and Covenants 163:8:b. "There are additional sacred ministries that will spring forth from the Temple as rivers of living water to help people soothe and resolve the brokenness and pain in their lives. Let the Temple continue to come to life as a sacred center of worship, education, community building, and discipleship preparation for all ages. c. As these ministries come to fuller expression, receptive congregations in the areas around the Temple and throughout the world will be revived and equipped for more effective ministry. Vital to this awakening is the understanding that the Temple calls the entire church to become a sanctuary of Christ’s peace, where people from all nations, ethnicities, and life circumstances can be gathered into a spiritual home without dividing walls, as a fulfillment of the vision for which Jesus Christ sacrificed his life." We are called to share the peace of Jesus Christ in our homes, congregations, and communities. May we carry the ministries of the Temple far and wide. May we become a people of the Temple.  This short work of theology by Dr. Tony Chvala-Smith explores and reflects on the central convictions of Community of Christ. It seeks to inform readers about what Community of Christ believes: something breathtaking, restorative, and transforming, a luminous way of life shaped by an ongoing encounter with the Living Christ. This is a wonderful option for adult study, Sunday school, or personal reading and reflection.
